Insurance Statistics

Average cost of raising a child
It costs about $450,000 for the average family to raise two children from birth to age 20. For the average couple with two children today, the cost will be around $310 a week, or 23 per cent of the average gross household income of $1,324 a week.

The cost of a child was found to be lowest for children in the youngest age group (at $85 a week from birth to four year olds living in middle income couple families with an average gross weekly income of $1330 a week) and highest for children in the oldest age group (at $364 a week for 15 to 17 year olds in the same middle income couple families)
